Florencia Padilla is a senior at Pepperdine University. She is majoring in Sustainability and minoring in the Global Fellows Certificate Program. Florencia has a passion for travel and getting to learn about other cultures. Florencia’s parents, originally from Honduras, allowed her to visit Honduras in the summers. She fell in love with the beauty of nature and how Hondurans integrate nature as their culture. The summer before sophomore year, Florencia was able to study the intersection of faith and climate change while also living eco-friendly in Kaikoura, New Zealand. During these four weeks, she was exposed to the sad reality of God’s creation and people being affected by climate change. She committed herself to advocate for change and hopes to help communities being affected. As a YECA fellow, Florencia hopes to spark curiosity and educate her campus on climate-related events. She is very excited to be a Climate Leadership Fellow and can’t wait to get started.
