Andrew Schumacher

Andrew is a second-year medical student at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He joined YECA as a Climate Advocate after graduating from Calvin University in 2019 where he studied Biochemistry and Philosophy. His passion for creation care began in 6th grade through an experiential environmental program of Rockford Christian School in Rockford, MI that emphasized stewardship of God's world. That passion blossomed during college through a program called Kill-A-Watt, an educational initiative of Calvin University to promote and practice sustainable, low-impact lifestyle habits. He’s interested in localism, community gardens, public transportation, and climate-smart healthcare. Andrew also serves as the Newsletter sub-chair of Medical Students for a Sustainable Future, a growing national community of over 400 climate-sensitive medical students.
