Beatrice Shackelford

Beatrice Shackelford is passionate about serving those who are suffering the effects of climate change and activating her Christian community to connect faith and environmental action. Living in Northwest Iowa, she has been deeply influenced by the environmental challenges faced by her community, such as the droughts and flooding brought on by climate change. She currently leads the Faith and Science club at Dordt University and was blessed to attend COP 29 through the Christian Climate Observers Program. Beatrice has written “Walking on Burning Ground: A Neo-Calvinist Cure to Climate Apathy” (Slated for publication in Pro Rege, May 2025) and “Where the Leaves Fall” (Published in In All Things, January 2025). Awarded the Beccam Life Service, Vanden Berg Vision into Action, and Earth keeping scholarships, she is expected to complete her BS in Environmental Science and Community Development at Dordt University in May of 2026. Beatrice is excited for the opportunity to continue to grow and serve her community better through YECA!
