Splash Into a Summer of Action

YECA is excited to announce that we are working with our partner ministry, Evangelical Environmental Network (EEN), for Summer of Action. Summer of Action is a program of educational webinars and trainings by EEN and YECA staff to equip our Advocates to take local and federal climate action.

Summer Priorities

Support for Clean Energy Tax Credits

This summer the U.S. Congress is considering their budget reconciliation bill and clean energy tax credits from the Inflation Reduction Act are in jeopardy of being cut. If successfully passed, a 30% tax credit for solar, and other clean energy upgrades would be immediately eliminated. Additionally, the cuts would lead to the phasing out of large-scale clean energy and manufacturing investments. Take action with us this summer to promote safer and healthier communities. As a quick and easy first step, click here to send a message to your policymakers on this issue in under 5 minutes.

Defend EPA Pollution Safeguards

The U.S. EPA recently announced proposals to repeal critical pollution standards on mercury and carbon pollution. These are life-saving measures that YECA has long been involved in advocating for and we’re eager to mobilize our Advocates once again toward speaking out to prevent these rollbacks. This summer, lift your voice in defense of our environment and encourage the EPA to prioritize human health over profit. In the coming weeks, we have an important opportunity to make our voices heard on this issue by giving testimony to the EPA.

YECA Staff will provide a testimony template and the necessary background info for crafting your testimony. You can read it virtually on the public hearing days in July or enter a written submission. Email us at communications@yecaction.org to express your interest!

How Else Can You Take Action?

  1. Publish an LTE or Op-Ed in your local news outlet
  2. Call your policymakers
  3. Spread the word on social media
  4. Share your Climate Testimony and talk to others about why you care

Wondering how you can do all this and more? Join one of our Summer Meetings!

We’re excited to invite all of you as our trusted Advocates to partner with us this summer in faithful, collective climate action. If you were unable to attend our Kickoff Webinar live, watch the recording here and learn how you can engage with us this summer. Additionally, you can fill out this google form to tell us more about how you’d like to take action this summer.

Later this summer--and into the Fall--one of YECA’s top priorities is working to support the Great American Outdoors Act (GAOA). The GAOA is a law that was signed into effect in 2020 to provide funding to maintain public lands as well as establish funds for land/water conservation and our National Parks. One aspect of the GAOA is The National Parks and Public Land Legacy Restoration Fund (GAOA LRF), which funds maintenance projects, and expires this year. Lawmakers are currently working on reauthorizing the GAOA to extend beyond 2025 through the bipartisan America the Beautiful Act. YECA’s Summer of Action participants will be able to use their God given voices and talents to urge Congress to reauthorize the America the Beautiful Act and repair the National Parks and public lands we love.
