Dr. Rachel Lamb currently serves as Senior Climate Advisor and the agency lead for natural climate solutions at the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE). Rachel recently earned her PhD in Geographical Sciences from UMD, where she focused on advancing strategic reforestation in support of climate mitigation and other social and environmental goals alongside member states of U.S. Climate Alliance and partners at NASA’s Carbon Monitoring System. Rachel also holds Masters degrees in Public Policy and Sustainable Development & Conservation Biology from UMD, and Bachelors degrees in Environmental Studies and International Relations from Wheaton College (IL).

Rachel served as YECA's National Organizer and Spokesperson from 2015-2016, and was a member of the Steering Committee for six years, including two years as Chair (2013-2015). Over the past decade, Rachel has worked for numerous agencies and organizations, including the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, A Rocha Peru, National Socio-Ecological Synthesis Research Center (SESYNC), Society for Conservation Biology, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. During the summers, she serves as a member of the faculty of the Au Sable Institute as an Associate Professor, teaching courses in environmental law and policy as well as land use and resources policy. She also serves as a member of the A Rocha USA Board of Directors. 

In 2015, Rachel was named a White House Champion of Change by the Obama Administration for her efforts in protecting our environment and communities from the effects of climate change. In 2018, Rachel was named a Harvey Fellow, in recognition of her unique vision to impact society through her vocation.
