Steering Committee Chair

Isabel C. Vander Molen (she/her) is a Climate Hunger Policy Advisor at Bread for the World’s Policy and Research Institute in Washington, D.C. She has engaged with global faith leaders to elevate the voice of faith communities committed to climate action at COP29 and COP30. Previously, Isabel contributed to sustainable development program analysis at the Center for Strategic and International Studies’ and supported local civic engagement in West Michigan. Isabel holds a B.A. in International Relations with concentrations in Global Development and Spanish from Calvin University. She currently serves as Chair of the Steering Committee after joining YECA in 2024. Isabel is passionate about the potential of food systems to improve the relationship between people, and creation through public policy. She was raised in Ada, Michigan.

Isabel Fun Fact: She enjoys fish and bird motifs in art and design.

Environment Fun Fact: Approximately 75% of food production and consumption comes from just 12 plant and five animal species, despite thousands of plants and animals being edible.
