On September 5th, I spoke at the Evangelical Environmental Network’s Prayer Service for Creation Care to ask for prayers for YECA and community concerns. At YECA, prayer is a transformative and consequential tool we frequently use to draw closer to the heart of God. I believe we achieve a more intimate relationship with the Lord when we communicate our praise, updates, and needs.
At the service, I prayed that more churches and Christians may have their hearts softened toward the Creation Care movement and that they would take action. I encourage you all to lift up the community prayers from the service that range from heat waves in Miami-Dade County to restoring native plants. Further, I humbly ask you to pray specifically for YECA. Below is a prayer I hope you will join me in praying.
Father,
I pray firstly for our members. which include our College Fellows, Community Fellows, Steering Committee, Climate Advocates, staff, and Senior Advisors. For members past, present, and future. I pray for more youth to take up a posture of obedience and join us.
Give them strength, perseverance, solutions, and the relationships to implement sustainable pathways, hold difficult conversations, and pursue compassionate justice. May we be brave warriors defending your precious environment and in doing so loving our neighbor more deeply. Grant YECA wise words to connect meaningfully to young people of my generation. Lord give us the consistency to walk alongside you, sit at your feet, and work towards fulfilling your vision for the world always. May we always place You first in our hearts so “in Your name” means with the love of Christ.

Multiply our time and efforts so the work of our hands reaches many colleges, churches, and other Christian institutions. Will you use YECA to be an instrument of your will? We yearn for your transforming power so our hearts may be aligned with your desires. May our time and energy be offerings to you.
