My journey with YECA started when I took my first environmental class in college. I remember feeling a range of emotions that were hard to process but brought a lot of clarity to my life. This class sparked my passion for climate advocacy. Not really knowing where to begin, I asked a professor that I was being mentored by if she knew where I should start. She recommended I apply for YECA’s college fellows cohort. When I started off my year with them I learned very valuable ways to not only spread the word about climate advocacy but also about my faith.
During this time of being heavily involved with YECA, I attended COP28 while being able to represent YECA and EEN as a climate observer. I got to see firsthand what climate advocacy work was like on the political side. Right after I graduated college, I joined their steering committee. I would have never experienced any of this if it weren’t for the commitment that YECA put into my faith and climate journey. They poured energy and focus into young people like me and I believe anyone would be lucky to get involved with YECA.
