  • Isabel Vander Molen named Chair of Steering Committee; William Morris to age out of his term
  • Chara Larson named Records Secretary

ALBURQUERQUE – February 5, 2026 – Today, Young Evangelicals for Climate Action (YECA) announced several changes to its senior leadership team following internal officer elections at the recent Steering Committee Retreat in New Mexico.

YECA National Organizer and Spokesperson Lauren Kim, said, “The greatest part of YECA is our people-first culture, which centers around servant-leadership, bridge building, and Christian values. I thank William Morris, for his six plus years’ of service with YECA, including the last 5 on the Steering Committee. On behalf of all on the Steering Committee, I wish him well on his next chapter at seminary. William is a natural leader, an exceptional activist, and a loyal Christ follower. His ascension up the ranks from field organizer to SC Chair is marked with achievements, from his Rolling Stone piece to his interactive presence at political rallies. His wisdom and discerning eye will be missed. I look forward to working with Isabel Vander Molen, as newly elected Chair, and Chara Larson, as Records Secretary, in their new roles shaping the future of the creation care movement. Our internal elections reflect the faith our leadership team has in our new Officers. Isabel and Chara demonstrate our commitment to connecting faith principals with bold, on-the-ground action through their personal and professional lives. I am confident in their ability to guide our next Strategic Plan.”

Isabel Vander Molen has been named Chair of YECA’s Steering Committee. In this role, Vander Molen will manage the leadership team, preside over regular committee meetings, and will spearhead Strategic Plan 2027-2032. Vander Molen is a veteran Steering Committee member serving since 2024. Previously she was the Records Secretary, holding key roles in meeting management, approvals, and records keeping. Vander Molen will leverage her knowledge of the nonprofit sector, nonpartisan research, and sustainable development to help position YECA for success.

Chara Larson has been named Records Secretary. In this role, Larson will report to SC Chair, Isabel Vander Molen, and will record and report minutes to the committee. As Records Secretary, her duties include a key advisory role in crafting our next Strategic Plan and sending timely notice of all meetings to the Committee. Larson’s principal occupation is in animal care at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (Eureka Springs, AR).
