Fruit of the Spirit Reflections: Faithfulness

Faithfulness is essential when it comes to climate activism.

The opposite of faith is not doubt. The opposite is assurance. For if you are sure of something no faith is necessary. The work of climate activism is filled with doubt.  Will those responsible for the continued destruction of Creation repent and turn from their ways? Will the voices of the most vulnerable be heard? How long, O Lord?

That doubt is intertwined with faith.

The work of climate activism is filled with faithfulness. We have faith those responsible for the continued destruction of creation will repent and turn from their ways and we will hold them accountable. We have faith the voices of the most vulnerable will be heard and they will be liberated. Soon, Lord.

Faithfulness is strong enough to carry doubt while holding space for hope. Faithfulness is continuing on through uncertainty towards something better. Faithfulness believes good will prevail despite how difficult things might be. Faithfulness to the Creator. Faithfulness to Creation. Faithfulness to each other.

Climate activism is living, breathing faithfulness. Here at YECA we strive to be faithful every day in our climate action but can’t do it without your support. Please consider giving to YECA today!
